How is "Cyaneus" pronounced? What does it mean?
Cyaneus (SIGH-an-EH-us) is the ancient Greek word for "blue," though mine is not quite the Greek pronunciation. If you are an artist, web designer, or light technician, you may already know that cyan is a color. In binomial nomenclature, several species of plants and animals share this name. For example, the superb fairywren (malurus cyaneus), the northern harrier (circus cyaneus), and an unusual blue Indonesian scorpion (heterometrus cyaneus).

What does "Esmoth" mean?
It originally began as "Ismuth," who was a character in a story I wrote many years ago--and whose name bears a striking resemblance to the element bismuth. Esmoth sounded like a more gentle variation to me. As far as I know, it doesn't mean anything, I just liked the way it sounded after "Cyaneus."

What about trades?
I tend to be extremely slow about these, and if you're an extraordinarily patient person willing to put up with my poor memory, perhaps.

Can I use your art on my web page/desktop/school report?
All images on this site, unless stated otherwise, are © Melissa Tillery (Cyaneus Esmoth). Do not repost, redraw, alter, trace, sell, distribute, or otherwise spread all over the place anything found here without written consent by the artist. You may save images to use as a desktop (or just keep on your computer) without asking, but if you are distributing them elsewhere, obtain my permission and cite my website. Selling or otherwise making a profit from my art or any tracings or copies of it is illegal and definitely not allowed. If you have any questions or would like to request usage, feel free to e-mail me at esmoth-at-cyaneus-dot-com.

Can I just link to your site?
Certainly! That's definitely allowed--how else would I get visitors?

When do you update?
On very rare occasions when all is quiet, the night is still, and Jupiter aligns with Mars.

Actually, I tend not to announce my updates unless they are dramatic site changes. Keep checking back periodically.

Why don't you have a forum? Do you need someone to make one for you?
No, thank you. I hardly keep up with the forums I'm a member of, I doubt I could keep up with one about me.

Do you have any offsite galleries such as DeviantArt or Elfwood?
No, actually. I'm sure I would forget to update them all. You may find some of my art on Neopets, but if someone on Neopets claims to be me and cannot message you from the account cyaneus for ANY reason, they are not me. I do not do art requests on Neopets anymore and I have never had my account suspended or frozen.

What graphics program do you use?
While in the past I have used Fractal Design Painter 5.0 for my digital art and site graphics, I now use Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1, Macromedia Flash MX 2004, and GIF Construction Set Professional (GIFCon is shareware and available at alchemymindworks.com).
