Neil Gaiman's Bast
Lady Bast is a minor character in The Sandman, a popular graphic novel series by Neil Gaiman. For Halloween of 2006, my friends and I dressed up as various characters from the series, including: Destruction, the Fashion Thing, Death, Nuala, Thessaly, the Corinthian, Delirium, Daniel, Dream, and Killala of the Glow. Not pictured in the group photo are Destiny, Rose Walker, and an additional Death.
Animal Spirits from Shakespeare's The Tempest
Goucher College's production of The Tempest included many fantastical creatures, including animal spirits and Ariel as the harpy. The animal spirits were constructed of polystyrene and fiberglass, and with the help of Steven Pingel. The harpy wings were constructed with the help of Jillian Merriwether-de Vries.
